Soreness lasts more in comparison with other muscles (because legs were never worked that seriously in past )
That irritates all the day, sometimes 2-3 days.
Person can’t walk or climb stairs comfortably due to the Soreness.
People always ask what happened to your legs? (And that is most irritating)
Sometimes legs get stiff (many people think leg strengthening will reduce their flexibility)
Reasons why the above things happen
Insufficient and improper warm up
Trainers or sometimes clients also push too hard with the workouts of which body might not be prepared for (going beyond comfort zone in training).
Unplanned workout routine
Errors in Exercise selection & Order of exercises
Not doing post workout static stretches and cool down
Follow this and you need not to fear leg day.
Prepare sufficiently – Dynamic Warm ups, animal walks, mobility exercises and some resistance band exercises for hip and knee as a prehab ritual.
Choose your exercises considering safety first and then desperation – don’t rush to lift heavy, follow micro progression strategy to avoid negative experience, progress from simple to complex, easy to difficult in terms of 1) complexity of exercise 2) amount of resistance (weight being lifted i.e., intensity) and volume (no. of sets X reps). Not more than 5 % to be progressed at a time can be a safer strategy (for some people even this cant be advisable).
Don’t go beyond comfort zone initially
Static passive stretches and cool down post workout without fail.
