Marriage (own, brother’s, sister’s or someone else’s) being one of the most important occasions people always have some pre marriage fitness goals mainly.
Before we start, let’s take a look at the concept of Motor learning.
When a person is learning a new exercise skill, it is a process called motor learning.
Observe — Understand—- rehearse —- attempt—- practice = learnt
It happens because of the sensory nad motor nervous system. Neuromuscular junction is a synapse where the signal is transmitted to the muscle fiber by the motor neuron. So learning any new skills of exercise involves observation, understanding the exercise, muscles being targeted by that exercise, confirming whether we are actually feeling those muscles working while performing that exercise, rectification of the errors if any and then practicing the exercise several times.
Progressing with difficulty level(heavy weight or complex movements or plyometrics or higher heart rate or longer duration) too early for a beginner may lead to a health complication for sure which may include some irreversible joint injuries, heart complications and muscle tear.
Now coming back to the pre Marriage Fitness Goals…..
People usually don’t have much time to achieve pre marriage fitness goals. Ranging from 15 days to 3 months is the most commonly found time for achieving our goals.
A myth that weight loss= cardio leads beginners (new to exercise) to treadmill, Zumba, aerobics etc. Some trainers suggest CrossFit workouts and weight training attracts to those who want bigger arms or gain weight.
And worst thing I find in this is they jump the difficulty level so fast only because they want to achieve the goals within the time.
But, people and trainers need to understand that,
The process of Motor learning has to be carried out carefully and progressions has to be done gradually to prevent injuries. So it’s better give sufficient time to achieve such pre Marriage Fitness Goals and start with exercise a bit earlier.
