A generation ago in India….
In India cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi being an exception sometimes (very few times) a common scenario is seen even today with Indian women in every corner of the country. Though we all talk too much about and also do many things for women empowerment, this issue is still unsolved as other issues.
Regardless of working or non working, class she is from(higher, middle, lower) woman has to do all the household work(which is not work because it is not a profession) and men never do that saying “woman should do it and not men”.
A generation ago, when these women became mother in law and a daughter in law came in as a new member of the house( those who didn’t have a son had a different story altogether) the scenario of heavy load of household work remaining the same ” An officer(mother in law) retires and another(daughter in law) takes the charge and continues to repeat the history.
Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of “de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum” (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance.Â
Now lets take a look on the consequences
Mother in law –
Daughter in law –
She starts the same journey as her mother and mother in law of which she is just mentally prepared ( this can surely become a joke if someone says some other preparation might also be needed)
And the same story repeats.
People usually take insurance policies for themselves but not for women in their family, they consult a doctor regularly for themselves but not for women in their family, they go to the gym, fitness centers etc. but never allow women in their family for the same (although the number of exercising women is increasing day by day, those are young and not from the generation of which we are talking about and still 90% of them are misguided and exercising wrongly.)
These steps can make things better if followed.
We can start a new chapter of women empowerment in India by doing this. Women too deserve a good health and a happy life. Instead of Taking them to the hospitals as a consequence of not doing these things, we have a a better option for their health.
